Through My Eyes: Children's Drawings from Conflict Zones Exhibition, Chelsea Art Museum, 556 West 22nd St, New York CityJuly 14-30 2005
In July, the group hosted an exhibition of children's drawings from a variety of conflict areas including Uganda, Chechnya, Sudan, Iraq, Kosovo and Darfur.
The aim of the event was to draw attention to the effect of war, conflict and violence on children - but from the perspective of the children. To see a selection of the pictures and get information about where they're from, click here.
But it's also not too late to see the exhibition! Most of the drawings will be on display at the gallery of Arts For Peace at 38 West 88th Street for the whole of September. Contact them for details on: 212-787-7706.Some of the drawings - by child soldiers from Uganda - are currently on display in the entrance hall of the United Nations (during August), and the whole exhibition is due to be shown
there again next Spring. Watch this space for more details! For information about the exhition and links to get you involved with Amnesty actions see Amnesty USA's website.
Opening night panel
Our special opening night discussion on Thursday 14th July was a great success - we had a packed room with many of the audience having to stand. Our thanks to our panelists: |
